New Jersey CEA benchmarking program

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has issued an Order requiring the owner or operator of every commercial building over 25,000 square feet in the state to benchmark annually energy and water use using the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Portfolio Manager tool, as required by the New Jersey Clean Energy Act.

1 Register Organization

Click the Register button above to create an EnergyCAP account. After providing your organization name and email address, you will receive an email to activate your account.

2 Invite others to your organization

After you activate your account you can invite others to your organization or go straight to Utility Company Platform to start adding buildings and meters.

3 Create buildings and add meters

Create your buildings in Utility Company Platform and add meters by using your ETG account number or searching by address for tenant meters.

4 Access data for tenant meters

If you are not the account holder for the meters on your building, you need to aggregate them or request a data release.

5 Set up ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager

In Utility Company Platform, link to your corresponding Portfolio Manager (PM) account. If you do not have an existing PM account, you will need to create an account and add your properties (buildings) in PM before you can link your buildings and meters in Utility Company Platform to PM.

6 Link and Submit to ENERGY STAR

After setting up your Porfolio Manager account, link buildings in Utility Company Platform to the properties you created in PM. Utility Company Platform will submit your data to PM automatically every month.
